Exterior Painting Notice to Members
December 2, 2014
Dear Sunrise at Wigwam Association Members,
The Association’s financial outlook continues to improve and it hopefully comes as good news that the Association assessment will not need to increase for 2015. For your reference, a copy of the 2015 operating budget is available on the community website at www.wigwamhoa.com. If you have an opportunity to attend an upcoming Board of Directors Meeting, we meet at Western Sky Middle School bi-monthly at 7:00 PM. The next meeting date is Wednesday, January 14th.
Projects in 2014 were minimal due to the number of projects completed in 2o13. Granite replenishment will continue as needed throughout the community. Recently the back side of the park was completed along with the breezeway to the park from 143rd and the breezeway between Weldon and Clarendon. In 2015 we anticipate sand replenishment at the tot lot at the park, additional park repairs/replacement, and if funds allow granite replenishment along Litchfield Road.
As a reminder from prior correspondence, the Design Review Committee will begin review of the homes that have not been painted after the first of next year. Approximately half of the community has painted with many more submittal requests in process. Response to paint the exterior of homes has been very good and is appreciated. When the DRC begins looking at homes next year, those exteriors that appear faded or in need of repair will begin to receive violation notices.
If you have not yet submitted for your exterior paint request, you will need to complete the architectural submittal form located on the community website and provide your paint color choices. On the website homepage you will find pre-approved color palettes from both Frazee and Dunn Edwards Paints. Original and new color palettes are available to choose from. You may also submit for alternate desert toned colors. If you choose to submit a request with colors other than those pre-approved Frazee and Dunn Edwards choices, color samples will be needed for the Design Review Committee to review.
Please remember that a submittal form is required whether you are painting in the same original colors or a new option so that the Committee can track homes as they are painted.
The Association has a list of painting contractors available to you if this would be of assistance. The list was generated from owners in the community who have recently painted and were happy with the pricing and quality of the work done. You can also check with your neighbors to see who they used, if they were happy with the job done, and to get an idea of pricing. The local Frazee and Dunn Edwards paint stores will also recommend local paint contractors with whom they have established relationships.
As noted last year, these community and paint projects are important to the community and will help to increase curb appeal and property values for everyone.
For those who have lost trees and or plants from the front yard, please remember that a minimum number are required. Updated Design Review Guidelines are in process with minimum standards for either (2) 15 gallon trees and (4) 5 gallon plants or (1) 15 gallon tree and (6) 5 gallon plants. Please be sure that your front yard meets this standard. Regular plant replacement does not require submittal to the DRC, but most other changes or updates do require prior approval before work begins.
Use of the park area is restricted to Sunrise at Wigwam members and is available on a first come basis. If you are bringing guests into the park for a birthday party or sporting practice or game, a park use form is required along with insurance documentation. This form is available on the website and should be used when bringing guests to the park for any event.

LOOP 303 UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Fall 2011-Fall 2014
Construction of Loop 303 is underway from I-10 in Goodyear to US 60 in Surprise. When construction ends in fall 2014, the Loop 303 will be a six-lane freeway and will include freeway-to-freeway ramp connections at I-10 and US 60. Final touches include decorative rock, painted freeway structures, wall art and reuse of desert vegetation. Bulk Trash Collection Days Being Reduced To Once a Month Beginning Oct. 1
The City of Goodyear has changed the bulk trash pickup from twice a month to once a month beginning on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012.
The recommendation to reduce bulk trash pickup days to once a month was approved by City Council in April 2012 and was overwhelmingly supported by Goodyear residents in a citizen survey conducted in October 2011. Data from the citizen survey reflected that 85 percent of residents used bulk trash pickup only once a month and sometimes less. Half of the respondents who said they used bulk trash pickup twice a month supported the reduction to once a month.
Goodyear residents can find information on the bulk trash pickup in the City’s website at goodyearaz.gov/trash. On the website landing page, residents can click on the Sanitation Service Day Finder link and then enter their house number address to discover which day of the month will be their new bulk trash collection date. The website also includes short videos to show residents how to use the Sanitation Service Day Finder link and what items should be left on the curb on bulk trash collection days.
The purpose of the City of Goodyear’s bulk trash collection program is to pickup larger items that do not fit in regular-sized trash cans. Bulk trash items collected by the City of Goodyear include yard waste, furniture, mattresses, appliances and other large household items. All bulk items need to be tied in bundles or placed in boxes and placed on the curb on collection days.
The new bulk trash service does not affect the already established weekly pickup days for regular trash and recycle collection. Goodyear residents can call the City’s Sanitation Department at 623-932-3010 or go to goodyearaz.gov/trash for more information.
